Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

1. Where should I avoid installing the VINYL CLEANER PRO X ?
Please do not set up the device in damp rooms, in direct sun or in rooms with high temperatures or wide temperature fluctuations.

2. The record is not being driven or is just being driven irregularly after insertion.
The driver consists of two barrels with driving rings pressing against each other. It may happen that the record does not sit correctly between the driving rings after insertion. A slight pressure on the record from above helps adjust it correctly.

3. The record sits correctly between the driving rings but is still not being driven correctly or it slips.
Please check if the barrels rotate with the driving rings. If so, then the driving rings are simply worn and need replacement. There are also records that "twitch" due to their specific material, a deformation, or their particular thickness.

4. The record "wobbles" during the cleaning process.
The VINYL CLEANER PRO X can be used to wash LPs resp. 12-inch records of different thicknesses. The driving barrels adjust to the thickness. This may cause the record to "deviate" off axis to the left. This is normal and does not represent a defect.

5. The VINYL CLEANER PRO X makes "squeaking noises”.
Occasionally, it may happen that the water wipers, when wet, may make "squeaking noises" due to the rotation of the record. Usually, this will subside on its own. If this is not the case, replacing the wipers may help.

6. I rarely use the VINYL CLEANER PRO X. Why do I still have to change the cleaning fluid after 4 weeks?
It is important to avoid dirt residues and odor concentration in the unit! If the cleaning fluid is only minimally dirty, you can fill it into a sealable container and store it until the next use.

7. Why are the cleaning barrels not in contact the record and do not rotate either?
When refilling the unit, air bubbles may form in the pump. This can cause the barrels to not be in contact with the record. Therefore, check if the barrels rotate and are in contact with the record when the cleaning process starts. If the barrels do not move, remove the record, and press several times on the resilient round body between the gear wheels. This will remove the air from the pump.

8. With what frequency do I have to replace the accessories?
Filters, barrels, driving rings and wipers should be replaced after 500 cleaning cycles, while the cleaning liquid is to be replaced after 100 cycles.

9. How do I replace the driving rings?
Put a rag over the O-ring and roll it upwards with your fingertips.

10. Who do I contact if my VINYL CLEANER PRO X is defective?
If you purchased the VINYL CLEANER PRO X from us, please contact Audiodesksysteme Gläss GmbH directly. If you purchased the device from a retailer, please contact your dealer. In any case, a repair of the VINYL CLEANER PRO X is only possible at Audiodesksysteme Gläss GmbH.

11. How do I know how old my machine is?
At the bottom plate of the VINYL CLEANER PRO X there is a white label. On this label you can find a number, starting with the abbreviation for the colour (R/=Red, G/=Grey, etc.) On older models the serial number was also handwritten with a black felt-tip pen - without any colour specification.

12. How can I find a dealer near me?
Send us an e-mail to info@audiodesksysteme.de or contact us by phone.

13. Can I clean shellac records with the VINYL CLEANER PRO X?
Yes, you can.
